marriage- a promised land or prison
It happens over and over again each day; people drift apart, stop communicating and end up estranged, alienated or strangers. This happens among friends, families and especially in marriages. The vast majority of divorces are caused by couples who no longer are able or willing to communicate with each but rather live in a silent prison awaiting an opportunity to run away.Any relationship takes communication, commitment and a willingness to sacrifice. There is a reason why when most people get married they say "I do" to the vow of sticking with their partner in sickness and in health, in good times and bad until death do them part. Of course a huge percentage of all couples conveniently forget these vows at some point and find reasons why they are exceptions. If there is no love or respect in a marriage, it is doomed to failure. If there is no willingness to yield on insignificant points, bend on selfish desires or commitment to work things out; the end result will be unhappy people looking for a way out of a relationship they detest. Marriage takes hard work, open communications and total commitment to endure. When these things are in place, marriage becomes the "promised land" God intended it to be. When these things break down it becomes a prison with the only desire being to escape
